Travelling: Five Product Face

You know those days on holiday when you don’t want a full face of make up, because A) you’re on holiday and you want a day off from your routine, and, B) everyone else seems to be wearing no make up, and you’d be the odd one out.

When travelling, space in your bag and time are two very important factors, so being happy with a shorter and more compact routine is essential if you’re planning a trip this summer. No one wants to be charged for extra KG at the airport (for those extra 3 eyeshadows palettes you just had to bring) or spending half the morning putting their face on while everyone else is topping up their tans.

I have combined a low-down of 5 products that I can’t live without whilst travelling, because, if you’re anything like me, going out with a completely bare face isn’t an option.
I wish I had that confidence though, so if you do, I salute you!

Let’s get started with products to make you look and feel gooooood!

Concealer
Use your favourite concealer for those pesky undereye bags, dark circles and spots… It’ll brighten your whole face without look caked on. My current favourite is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla.
Make sure you blend it out with your finger so there are no lines or patches.

Brows
Moving on, I can’t go anywhere without my brows on. You may have the perfect brows and not even need this step, but after I over-plucked as a young teen, I’m on just getting them back to any sort of normalisation. Now, I’m not saying go full on thick brow, but I like to put in my arch, and fill in where it’s a bit patchy. I feel more confident and sometimes you just need that extra boost. I am currently using Soap and Glory’s Brow Pencil and Wand which is a great product, very similar to ABH Brow Wiz.

Blush
Since we’re playing it down with the concealer, I do like to add a hint of colour to my cheeks. A light dusting to the apples of my cheeks gives that rosy glow which is perfect for this time of year, especially whilst holidaying. I love to use Incandescent Electra by Hourglass for this look, or sometimes the convertible lip/cheek tint by Stila.

Eyes
If I had the choice of shadows, eyeliners and mascaras I could be here all day, but since we’re keeping it simple I definitely have to choose mascara as the eye product I couldn’t live without on holiday. I have been using for a long time Maybelline Sensational Lash (lilac packaging). I have my dad to thank for my naturally long lashes and so two coats of this stuff gives my lashes volume and curl.

Lips
I have many lipsticks. My collections expands week on week. It may be a problem!
When I’m wearing a simple make up look on holiday, or any other time, I don’t mind going for a slightly different lip colour. In this case I’ve used NYX Full Throttle Lipstick in the shade FTLS 07 which is brighter than usually go for. I figure stepping outside my comfort zone can only be a good thing, so if you normally go for pinky colours, maybe try a brown toned lippy, or even red! You never know, you might love it!

So, this completes my simple holiday make up look using 5 products. I hope you liked my suggestions 🙂

Travelling: My Palette Essentials

I’ve had the pleasure and the privilege of travelling around the UK in recent weeks, so this means a quick turn around of washing, unpacking and repacking my make up/skin care etc.

We all know that travelling with palettes, be it eyeshadow or blushes or something else, saves space whilst at the same time giving you options for make up looks.

I have found myself reaching for the same palettes on my different travels, so wanted to share with you what I love to take on holiday with me!

Stila Eyes are the Window to the Soul Palette
This beautiful palette is from the Eyes are the Window series. It incorporates some lovely base shades Heart and Individual and also my two favourite shimmery shades, Kitten and Bubbly – they are great to finish off any look. I’ve taken this palette to Scotland, Wales and back to England with me, it’s well travelled and a definite keeper.

I will admit that I do pop a few of my Colourpop single eyeshadows in my bag too, because they’re just too pretty to leave behind!!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
The ambient lighting range is just beautiful, there is no denying it. The 3 blushes in the palette are Luminous Flush, Incandescent Electra and Mood Exposure.
It means I can create a more summery look by using one of the first two or go more natural with Mood Exposure. For such a small palette I can create different looks which is ideal!

If I had a bigger bag, I would bring more palettes… but then I probably wouldn’t be able to lift my bag!

What do you swear by for your holidays? Do you have any recommendations for me?

Feature Favourites: May

Firstly I apologise for missing a few posts over the last 10 days, I’ve been away on a road trip with my friends and so, as a result, my blogging has suffered. I have included some holiday snaps to make up for it! 😀

This month I have been super busy and June doesn’t seem like it will be any quieter at this rate!

So, without further a do, lets talk favourites!

Nescafe Instant Caramel Coffee
Now it may seem really pricey, but when you work out how many drinks it’ll make you, it’s so worth it. This coffee smells amazing and tastes so much better than a regular coffee. If caramel isn’t your thing, fear not! There are lots of different flavours within the range.

Revlon Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick
Now, there isn’t no denying I agree with majority when I say the finish isn’t matte. However it is such a lovely formula and it smells so nice as well! It lasts for a long time, fades well and reapplies beautifully. The packaging is also very sleek. I have the most nude shade Seduction but there are plenty of bold colours to choose from as well.

Cath Kidston Wash/Make Up Bag
I found that I was running out of space for my make up when I travelled using a regular make up bag, so on one of my recent trips to Edinburgh (because we don’t have a CK where I live *sob*) I bought myself this beautiful bag. I can now fit everything in and it is just so pretty!

Becca & Jaclyn Hill Highlight in Champagne Pop
This is undeniably the most heavenly of all highlighters. It provides a truly beautiful shimmery glow. All the while, still maintaining a natural look! I cannot recommend it enough, it’s worth the splurge.

TK Maxx Trio of Drawers
I am a sucker for TK Maxx, as most of you will already know. When I saw these cute little drawers I popped them straight into my basket. I am currently using them to store my individual blushes but I am yet to decide what the other drawers are for. Yes, I know, impulse buy. But it makes me happy when I see it, so it’s all good, right? 😉

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
I didn’t think I would ever sway from UD’s Concealer however I fancied a change when I got to the end of the bottle. NARS have not disappointed. I got the shade Vanilla which is the perfect shade for me. It doesn’t crease, or go clumpy or look drying over time. It’s brill!

As promised some holiday snaps for you, to make up for my late post!

Eyeshadow Revolution: Colourpop

I’ve been trying to choose a favourite and I just can’t. I love them all!
image

Colourpop eyeshadows are affordable long lasting shadows in a variety of different colours and finishes. They are somewhere in between a mousse and a cream, probably more on the mousse side which make them a dream to apply and they stay put all day. They work well with other shadows and can be used alone or to finish off a look. So versatile!

They’re an American brand who don’t yet ship to the UK however you can pick them up in the UK from Depop (from a seller named India Golding – @indiagolding) for the sum of £9 each, although if you buy more than one she may offer them at a reduced price. This is way better than paying customs and import fees yourself!

I have Wattles, La La, Nillionaire and Kathleen Lights and this is just the beginning, I can’t wait to add to my collection.

What should I try next? Have you tried any of these, what did you think?
